We went to Paris last year for my 30th birthday. We started and took the train from Stuttgart to Paris which just took a few hours. It was almost surreal to be back in Paris. I hadn’t been back since I studied abroad in college in 2013!
Allie and Raegan were SO interested in Paris because they were addicted to Fancy Nancy on Disney+. It was so fun to see them light up when they saw familiar sites. We got there in the afternoon and by the time we walked to our airbnb and got groceries, it was dark. We decided after dinner to go see the Eiffel Tower all lit up.
As we got closer, the girls saw the glittering for the first time. Tears came to my eyes when Allie grabbed my hand and said “this is a dream come true mommy!” These experiences are so special for all of us. I wanted to provide amazing experiences for our kids, but the actual reality of WHAT all they have done has been so cool.
We had no set itinerary on what all we wanted to do, so we just wandered. I was already familiar with the Metro so we bought multi day passes and off we went.
We saw The Louvre, The Eiffel Tower, Place Vendome, Palais Royal, Tuileries Garden, Trocadero Gardens, of course the Seine. Off we went to Arc de Triomphe, and wandered down the Champs Elysees. We went to Notre Dame, and saw it in the reconstruction phase. I was so heartbroken to see the fire damage in person. The spires I remembered so well were completely gone- the space just looked so wrong. As we walked along the Seine we had the BEST crepes. I will absolutely visit that stand again whenever I am in Paris. The girls got gelato and thoroughly enjoyed it.
The girls were such troopers. It is SO hard to not be able to stop and settle during vacation. Rae was so tired, she fell asleep in my arms on the metro and Kevin carried her around as we walked over to Pantheon. The following day they both fell asleep on our River Seine boat excursion.
My main goal during the trip was to take some photos, and I successfully accomplished that! Please enjoy “visiting” the city of light through my lens.
I hope you liked seeing the photos from Paris! I can’t wait to go back!
