Yesterday afternoon I got a wild hair and asked Kevin if we could do some family photos. I mentioned it as a possibility, but what Kevin didn’t know, I wanted them right then.
I took a shower and got ready to go. We picked clothes already in the closet and got in the car. We drove to one of my favorite locations, and the light was AMAZING.
As some of you may be aware, our dog Cooper is not doing well. We are anticipating a very hard trip to the vet in the coming weeks. We took this opportunity to get some sweet pictures with him as a good memory to have in the future.
He has always been a sweet boy. Kevin and I adopted Cooper in August 2014 (a few days away from six years ago). He has gotten us through lots of hard times, lonely times and we have always laughed at his antics.
Kevin went to basic training in September 2015, and Cooper slept on his pillow every night. His 60 pounds and snores in my ears were the best company a girl could need while missing her husband.
He has been a wonderful dog for Allie, they spent so much time together on his pillow in the living room. Once Raegan was born, she spent less time with him and more with her sissy.
We found out last fall that Raegan is allergic to dogs. That was a setback for everyone. Unfortunately (in hindsight it was a blessing) the rehoming situation we found for him did not work out. He has spent much of his time separated from his people because it so negatively impacts Rae. Every night he still comes to our bed for scratches and people time.
It is so special to be able to create and capture these moments for my own family. I LOVE the memories we will get to cherish for years to come.
We spent the entire evening shooting and having fun. We changed into a more formal outfit (my FAVORITE) for our “second” location. This process went even smoother than I anticipated and I can’t believe how many awesome portraits we were able to capture!
I took video too, so I know I will create an awesome keepsake video of this time as well!
Enjoy the photos!
